Coordinating Committee

The hibakushacall on all countries to sign the TPNW and eliminate all nuclear weapons.

To support the survivors’ call, please sign the “International Appeal of the Survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons,” now known as the Hibakusha Appeal.

April 2016 – Hibakusha of Hiroshima and Nagasaki launch Hibakusha Appeal campaign.

The goal—to collect several hundred million signatures from around the world by 2020.

The signatures gathered each year are presented to the United Nations.

July 2017 – UN adopts the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW); signatures presented now demand that all countries enter this treaty and eliminate nuclear weapons.

The Hibakusha Appeal Coordinating Committee, formed in August 2016, comprises organizations and individuals working to promote the Hibakusha Appeal. For a list of organizations and policies, contact Steve Leeper at the address below.

In addition to the National Coordinating Committee, many prefectures or local communities have formed their own committees. In fact, you could form a coordinating committee for your area. For more information please contact:
